Getting Here
After arriving at Belize International Airport, travelers have two transportation options to reach San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. The most convenient method is a 15-minute flight with either Tropic Air or Maya Island Air, priced at approximately $175 USD per person for a roundtrip. Please note that the last flight typically departs at 5:40 pm.
Alternatively, travelers can opt for a water taxi from Belize City to San Pedro, which takes approximately 1.5 hours and costs about $40 USD per person for a roundtrip. To reach the water taxi terminal in downtown Belize City from the airport, a taxi ride costs approximately $25 USD one way. For those choosing the water taxi, it’s important that your international flight lands by 3:30 pm Belize local time, as the last water taxi departs from Belize City at 5:30 pm.

Royal Kahal can arrange for complimentary transfers once you reach the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. We can pickup and drop off guests at the San Pedro Airport (SPR) or at the San Pedro water taxi docks. If this is of interest, please complete our transfer request form at the following link:
Please note that requests must be submitted at least 72 hours before your arrival.
All visitors are required to have a valid passport, valid for at least 30 days after the date of arrival, and a return ticket. Visas are not currently required for travelers from the U.S., European Community, or British Commonwealth for stays less than 30 days.

While travel insurance is not required, we highly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance with trip delay, trip interruption and trip cancellation coverage before your trip. It can provide peace of mind in case of unforeseen events or travel disruptions.
About Royal Kahal Beach Resort
Check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Guests arriving early are welcome to use the Royal Kahal’s facilities while a room is being prepared. Luggage storage is also available at our front desk. Please note that early check-in and late check-out cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Yes, we love hosting guests for special occasions! If you are celebrating a honeymoon, birthday, anniversary, or other major event during your stay with us, please let us know at least 72 hours before your arrival so we can do something a little special for you.
Every condo at Royal Kahal Beach Resort is equipped with a full-size washer and dryer. The dryer uses heat pump technology, which is incredibly energy efficient and gentler on clothes. Please note that laundry soap is not supplied, but it’s readily available at nearby grocery stores.
Yes, every full-size bathroom is equipped with a hair dryer.
Royal Kahal Beach Resort has a state of the art water filtration and treatment system. Every sink in every condo has a green faucet located next to the primary faucet. Water from the green faucet is filtered and safe to drink. Ice makers are also connected to the water filtration system.
Yes, Royal Kahal Beach Resort is a family friendly property and we have a limited number of pack ‘n plays and highchairs that can be provided free of charge. If you are travelling with an infant, please be sure to submit your request in advance so items can be placed in your unit prior to your arrival.
Yes, Royal Kahal Beach Resort provides daily housekeeping with every reservation.
About Ambergris Caye
Cell phones work in Ambergris Caye if you have activated international service with your provider. Contact your cellular provider before your departure for information on services available within Belize.
Golf carts are the most common mode of transportation on Ambergris Caye and their are many golf cart rental companies to choose from. Taxis, bicycles and water taxis are also readily available.
About Belize
English is the official language, but almost half the population speaks Spanish. Garifuna (Carib), Maya, and Creole are also spoken as well as a German dialect (by the Mennonites).
Belize uses the same 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity as the USA and Canada. If you are travelling from North America, you should not need a power adapter.
Belize’s official currency is the Belize Dollar and the exchange rate is approximately $2.00 BZD = $1.00 USD. US cash is widely accepted, as well as Visa and Mastercard. if you are paying with cash, change will typically be provided in Belize Dollars.
All rates and any activity include a service charge. Tipping is customary in Belize, and 10-15% is standard. As always, tipping is at your discretion.
Belize is six hours behind GMT, which is the same as US Central Standard Time (CST). Belize does not observe daylight savings time.

- The Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef Atoll: World’s largest at 1,000 ft diameter, plunges 440 ft into darkness, adorned with stalactites.
- Half Moon Caye Wall, Lighthouse Reef Atoll: Vibrant reef and wall, home to colorful corals, slow-moving garden eels, and diverse marine life including eagle rays and sea turtles.
- Aquarium: Abundant fish life along a sheer drop-off, featuring large sponges, sea fans, and diverse marine species like reef sharks and groupers.

Fishing licenses are required for all fishing on Ambergris Caye. A one-day license will cost you $10 USD, and a weekend license only $25 USD.
